Chief Secretary Carrie Lam officiated at the launch ceremony for the Mobile Dental Clinics of the Kwai Tsing Signature Project Scheme today.
The project provides ocular and dental care services for senior citizens and helps promote a healthy lifestyle in the district.
Two mobile dental clinics will provide services to residents aged 60 or above from mid-March. While the project also includes the provision of ocular examination services, a seasonal influenza vaccination programme, community healthcare services and health education seminars.
The Kwai Tsing Signature Project is the first programme launched under the Signature Project Scheme in Hong Kong.
The Kwai Tsing District Council has engaged Yan Chai Hospital and the Kwai Tsing Safe Community & Healthy City Association as its partners to provide a series of community healthcare services to residents with an allocation of $100 million.
Mrs Lam said the Government is dedicated to providing community support for the elderly and will allocate more resources to the District Councils to implement age-friendly initiatives at the district level.
